  BiPRO

The non-profit association BiPRO e.V. (Brancheninitiative Prozessoptimierung) facilitates e-business for the insurance sector in Germany by developing business and technical communication standards.

The members of BiPRO are:

  • Insurers
  • Brokers, broker pools, intermediary organisations
  • Software vendors and service providers for brokers
  • Consultancy and other software companies

Actually BiPRO has over 180 members.

BiPRO is organising joint standardisation projects between its members to optimise the electronic processes between insurers, brokers and other involved parties.

The development of the BiPRO standards follows five main principles:
1. Standards are public-domain documents which may be used by any market player.
2. Neutrality – focus is on the market requirements, not on specific interests.
3. Technical standards are based on a service-oriented architecture (SOA) especially on web services.
4. Business standards are making use of the GDV conventions and of the UN/CEFACT Core Components.
5. Standards development must always be supported by implementation projects.

eEG7 Chairman Dr. Manuel Reimer explains the importance of the UN/CEFACT Core Component Library and the eEG7 SMILe Model, which is the basis for the BiPRO insurance standards in Germany. See the video at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAyvYjCBDYs
